In the background Nectir sees Open Ideas and ideas for a Challenge in similar ways:

  • They use the same #naming structure and can be searched in the same way
  • They can be promoted to sprints
  • They can be shared with everyone, a line or selected team members
  • They add to your innovation score (you get more points for Open Ideas)

Open Ideas are typically unique ideas that team members create whereas an idea for a Challenge is typically an idea that solves a set Challenge.

How are they different?

All Open Ideas are reviewed by a line manager after being published to check how well the idea suits one or more strategies that the Open Idea has been selected for. Line Managers also have the ability to nominate the Open Idea for a Sprint or to revoke the Open Idea from live posting if it is not suitable or still needs significant work.
